Chainsaw problems usually trace back to fuel, spark or air—same as any small engine. Use fresh 50:1 fuel mix (check your manual). A clogged spark arrestor kills power fast. Chain tension matters: too loose and it jumps, too tight and it wears the bar. These guides cover gas and battery chainsaws from Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo and other brands.

Common Chainsaws Problems

Chainsaw won't start

Check fuel mix freshness, spark plug and air filter. Prime correctly and use choke.

Chainsaw bogs down under load

Clean air filter and spark arrestor. Carb may need adjustment.

Chain keeps coming off

Check bar groove for wear and chain tension. Inspect drive sprocket.

Chainsaw leaking bar oil

Check oil tank vent and gaskets. Some seepage when stored is normal.
