Won’t Start Problems

  1. Turn key - does it click?

Push mowers:

  1. Pull cord - does engine turn?
  2. Check spark plug

Battery Issues (Riding Mowers)

Symptoms:

  • Click but no crank
  • Slow cranking
  • Nothing happens

Fix:

  1. Test battery voltage
  2. Clean terminals

  4. Check charging system

Fuel System Problems

Safety Switch Issues

Belt Problems

Deck Belt Issues

Symptoms:

  • Blades slow down under load

Common causes:

  • Worn belt (cracks, glazing)
  • Bad idler pulley
  • Bent spindle
  • Debris in pulley grooves

Belt Replacement

Tools needed:

  • Socket set
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • New belt

Steps:

  1. Disconnect spark plug or battery
  2. Lower deck to lowest position
  3. Remove belt guards
  4. Release tensioner
  5. Note belt routing (take photo)
  6. Remove old belt
  7. Route new belt per diagram
  8. Release tensioner
  9. Verify proper seating
  10. Test operation

Drive Belt Issues

Symptoms:

  • Won’t move forward/reverse
  • Sluggish response
  • Squealing when moving
